Novak Djokovic has reached the semifinals of the US Open. The Serb took four sets to defeat the Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and 7-6 (2).
The game ended well after midnight in New York. Lopez played for the first time in the quarter-finals in New York. TheSpaniard had barely any grip on the game in the opening set, but in the second set, he put the pressure on the Serb star.
Lopez didn’t start well in the third set, leaving Djokovic to instantly place a break. The Serb retained the lead and made it 2-1 in sets.
A tiebreak had to bring the decision in the fourth set. Which resulted as 7-2 in favor of Djokovic.
The world number one now meets defending champion Marin Cilic. The Croat, last year’s

semi-finals at Flushing Meadows earlier on Tuesday.
Cilic had a hard time against Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, but ultimately won in five sets: 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4. Cilic had five match points to decide the match.
